Last week was a big one for me...I did my first Instagram takeover at the @autoimmunepaleo page. For those of you who don't know what a "takeover" is...you basically are given the username/password to that page and allowed to post your own content. I sent in an application for the takeover and was accepted. I was sent some guidelines...how many times per day to post, do's and don'ts, how to use hashtags, etc. It took me several weeks to prepare my posts because I wanted to include both new and older recipes, tips for an AIP lifestyle and the importance of growing fresh herbs, eating organ meats, etc. But when it came time to get rolling, I was ready!
I started the takeover on a Monday and once I submitted my first post, it was crazy! The amount of followers I gained per hour was crazy (it slowed down as the week progressed) and there were constant comments and DM's to respond to. It opened my eyes to what these big time bloggers with 10,000+ followers deal with on a daily basis. I had no idea how many people would be interested in my posts and it was so exciting to have so many people engaging in my content. I was so fortunate to be surrounded by a community of extremely friendly and welcoming people all with one goal in mind...healing the body. So many people shared their healing journeys with me and I began to feel so inspired!
I've definitely learned a lot from the last year on my AIP journey so I was happy to share my knowledge and experience but also found myself learning from others. It was one of the busiest weeks for me via social media but also one of the most exciting and educational weeks in a long time.
When I first started my healing journey, the @autoimmunepaleo page was one of the first I followed and it helped me navigate the murky waters of AIP so much. I can't tell you how gratifying it was to "pay it forward" and offer recipes, ideas and advice to others just beginning the journey. No matter what community you are a part of, remember to always give back what you get. I can only pray that during my takeover week, I was able to encourage, inspire and lift up just one person and if I was successful, I consider my healing journey totally worth the pain and a total success. We were created to give to others, lift one another, and pay it forward. I pray that, in the future, God shows me additional ways I can continue to reach others on a "healing journey".
So, overall, I couldn't be happier with my first experience with an Instagram takeover...I would totally do it again! I hope I can do another takeover somewhere in the future and that I can maintain a few of the relationships I've developed along the way.
What are you doing to inspire others?
On a separate post...how amazing is this pic taken by my sis-in-law???
